SIEM REAP
The gateway to the magnificent Angkor Archaeological Park, where ancient history meets vibrant culture.
Angkor Wat temple, the temple mountain, dedicated to Vishnu God. It’s designed to represent Mount Meru, home of the devas in Hindu mythology. Temple is recognized the best spot for Sunrise, Sunset and the rare astronomical event – Equinox, that occurs twice a year (March & September).
BATTAMBANG
Battambang is a city on the Sangkae River in northwestern Cambodia. It’s known for colonial buildings, and in 2023, it was designated as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, becoming the first in Cambodia to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN). The region is also known for its rafting the rails experience (Bamboo Train ride).

These public holidays reflect Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage, historical significance, and Buddhist traditions. Each holiday is marked with various events and activities that bring communities together in celebration and remembrance.
January
1 - New Year's Day
Celebrated worldwide, this day marks the beginning of the new Gregorian calendar year. In Cambodia, it is a public holiday often used for family gatherings, parties, and various festivities.

7 - Victory over Genocide Day
This day commemorates the fall of the Khmer Rouge regime in 1979 and the restoration of the Cambodian government. It is a significant day of remembrance for those who suffered during the genocide and includes various ceremonies, speeches, and festivals.

February
24 - Foundation Day of the Army
This holiday honors the Cambodian Royal Armed Forces. It celebrates the establishment and achievements of the military and includes parades, ceremonies, and military-led events highlighting patriotism and national defense.
March
8 - International Women's Day
This day celebrates women’s rights and achievements worldwide. In Cambodia, activities often include seminars, workshops, and community events aimed at empowering women and raising awareness about gender equality.

14-16 - Khmer New Year (Chaul Chhnam Thmey)
One of the most important celebrations in Cambodia, the Khmer New Year marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the new year. The festival involves several days of rituals, traditional dances, temple visits, family gatherings, and games. The last day, known as “Sangkranta,” includes water blessings and a symbolic washing away of sins.

17 - Day of Victory over Genocide
This day is observed to remember and honor the victims of the Khmer Rouge regime, similar to January 7. It involves ceremonies and memorials dedicated to those who lost their lives during this tragic period.
May
1 - International Labor Day
This holiday recognizes the achievements of workers. Various events, including parades and speeches by labor unions, promote workers’ rights and social justice in Cambodia.
14 - Visak Bochea Day
Celebrated on the full moon day, this important Buddhist festival commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death of the Buddha. Buddhists in Cambodia participate in ceremonies at pagodas, make offerings, and engage in acts of compassion.

18 - King Norodom Sihamoni’s Birthday
This holiday celebrates the birthday of the reigning King of Cambodia. Official ceremonies include flag-raising, military parades, and public celebrations, demonstrating respect for the monarchy.

24 - Constitutional Day
